The Reverend Dr. Jarvis A. Ellis Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor/Teacher of The Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church of Dayton, Ohio. Under his dynamic leadership and vision, Macedonia endeavors to “Love God. Love People. Make A Difference.” Prior to his kingdom assignment at Macedonia, he faithfully served two congregations (Great Faith Missionary Baptist Church & New Direction Christian Church) in Milwaukee for 11 years and both churches experienced astronomical growth both spiritually and numerically.
Dr. Ellis received his undergraduate degree from holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Religion from Paine College in Augusta, Georgia, a Master of Arts in Pastoral Counseling & Theological Studies from Trevecca Nazarene University in Nashville, Tennessee, a Pastoral Leadership Degree from Marquette University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and a Doctor of Ministry degree from United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio. An avid learner and pupil of excellence, Dr. Ellis recently was selected in the summer of 2024 as a Preaching Exemplar in the inaugural cohort for the Compelling Preaching for a Climate-Changed World is a collaborative project of Lexington Theological Seminary, The BTS Center, and Creation Justice Ministries that is made possible by a grant from Lilly Endowment Inc. He is also a content contributor to many ministry publications concerning ministry methodologies and contemporary preaching.
A native of Atlanta, GA, Pastor Ellis comes from a faith-built foundation demonstrated to him by his parents, the late Deacon Harold Lee Ellis and Mrs. Doris Ellis-Turner who raised him. Affectionately known as “Pastor E” by his congregation, he is well respected in his community as one who lives to serve. A sports enthusiast, he is a diehard Atlanta Falcons fan and fraternally, a proud member of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Although Pastor Ellis is a man who loves God, ministry and his community, his greatest achievement is his family. Pastor Ellis is blessed to share each day of his life with his beautiful, supportive wife, best friend, and high school sweetheart, Malloree and together they are the proud parents of one son, Jarvis Armard Ellis II.
