Dr. Jamison Douglas Hytche Hunter

Born in Austin, Texas-raised in Port Arthur, Texas, Dr. Jamison Douglas Hytche Hunter brings both education and experience to the occasion of ministry and the preaching assignment. Since a teenager, he has championed the gospel message with great joy and passion, and has distinguished himself as one who is truly committed to the rigors of continuing education and academic excellence. He completed his Bachelor of Arts Degree from University of Maryland Eastern Shore (Princess Anne, MD) and the Master of Divinity Degree from Howard University School of Divinity (Washington D.C.) and he earned the Doctor of Ministry Degree from the United Theological Seminary (Dayton, OH). He is currently a mentor of the Gardner C. Taylor Scholars—a confab of doctoral candidates whose focus centers on Prophetic Leadership, Social Justice, and Political Action. Dr. Hunter, is an inductee of the distinguished Martin Luther King Jr. Board of Preachers of Morehouse College. Dr. Hunter, is the author of “Beyond the Walls: Transforming Worshippers to Witnesses”.

Since 2009, Dr. Hunter has served and led the Macedonia Baptist Church in Dayton, Ohio, and has been used by God to effect fresh energy, many trail-blazing initiatives, and notable growth in this traditional church context. Under Dr. Hunters, leadership, he has led the church in an internal campaign to liquidate $600,000 that was owed on the multi-purpose facility. Most notably, the church has built a $2.2 million dollar worship center (sanctuary) and total renovation that encompasses a new worship center, administrative offices, and youth center.

Dr. Hunter further serves as the 1ST Vice-Moderator of the Northwestern Ohio Missionary Baptist Association, and is a Member of the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity Incorporated, Sigma Pi Phi Fraternity (The Boule), and a Silver Lifetime member of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP).

Having been nurtured in a distinguished tradition of Christian servant leaders, Dr. Hunter’s father (Dr. Jimmy D. Hunter) serves as pastor of the Toliver Chapel Baptist Church in Waco, Texas. His maternal grandfather (the late Dr. William P. Hytche) served with the distinction (28 years) as President of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore. Dr. Hunter and his lovely wife, Patrice, are the devoted parents of two darling daughters and one debonair son.
